We are lucky to have our very own camp. The 50 acres of property for Camp Ademac was purchased in September of 1987 from the family of Mrs. Elva Toms. It is located just south of Port Perry, 30 minutes from Oshawa. As well as unit and district camps, the annual Camporee and Brownie Revel are held here. Guiders come here too, to learn camping skills and for other trainings.

Construction of the Elva Toms Lodge began in fall of 1989. In February of 1992, the Kinsmen Club of Oshawa was asked and agreed to help complete the Lodge. Their feeling was that the children are our future and decided to invest their time, resources and finances towards the goal. The final occupancy permit was received April 8, 1993 and the 12th Oshawa Pathfinders were the first unit to hold a weekend camp in the lodge. Since then the camp is booked every weekend and the first week long summer camp was held in July 1996.

THE SITES
Rainbow Ridge – site 1
The Hollow – site 2
Shoo Fly – site 3
Mosquito Junction – site 4
Maximum 30 per site Camp Ademac has four established sites, all with picnic shelters.
There are LDU’s (liquid disposal unit) situated on each site, these are clearly marked and visible in the darker hours. The sites are marked with lines of evergreen trees. Two large washroom facilities, with flush toilets, are located between the sites and are clearly marked for each sites’ use.
There are also five picnic tables on each site, as well as a campfire pit. Also on site are two dish bag trees located in the storage area of your picnic shelter.
Rainbow Ridge (site 1) has a marquis cook shed located on site, which houses the equipment as well as a fridge and stove. It is an excellent site for Brownies. It is also a great site for camp type trainings.
Shoo Fly and Mosquito Junction are unique with longhouses on site instead of canvas tents.

Camp Ademac is a great place to hold your conferences, trainings and other group activities.

If you need a map to the camp, please consult your Unit guider or contact our office and we will be more than happy to provide it.
